10 reasons to love summer

It’s February and I’m already looking forward to my favorite season: summer! Here are the 10 reasons why I love this time of the year.

1. Wonderful beach days: swimming, tanning, eating enjoying your view and the warmth of the sun on your skin while reading a good book and/or listening to your favorite songs.

2. Salads taste a lot better when it’s summer. In the winter I really don’t feel like eating salads a lot, but in the summer I would like to eat salad almost every day. Like this salad with veggies and beef, jummy!

4. Campfires

4. Plumping down at a cafe terrace with a cold ice tea and some snacks. I could sit all day at a cafe terrace, while talking, drinking, snacking and watching people walk by. Good life!

5. Fresh fruits and vegetables. The summer season is the best season for greens. Strawberries, mangos, raspberries, pineapples, (water)melon and other tropical fruits, I already look forward to eating them every day and make some healthy smoothies!

6. Tanning. I always look a little pale in the winter, sun always gives my skin a rosy cheeked look and a healthy glow.

7. Outdoor exercises, for example going for a run. In the summer I often go for a run after a long beach day and then take a very long shower. After that, I really feel reborn!

8. Traveling and vacations. I went to Turkey (Alanya) with my bf last summer. We had a great time and the beaches were beautiful! Image9. Cheerful people. People are more happy and cheerful during when it’s sunny. Summer, hot sun, slow, quiet afternoons, and vacations. What more does a human being need to be happy?

10. Watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. This sunset picture was made during our trip to Ohrid, Macedonia.

Paris, one of world’s most beautiful places

Last month I went to Paris for three days, and I fell in love. So I wanted to share my photo diary with you! I love everything about this city: the language, the food, the fashion, architecture, shopping and atmosphere. I went together with my boyfriend by plane, it was only 45 minutes from Amsterdam. Sometimes going from my place to the university takes more than 45 minutes. The world is really a small place! It was around Christmas when we were in Paris and you could really feel that ultimate cosy winter feeling: there was a huge christmas market at Champs-Élysées where a lot of people drank mulled wine and ate crêpes, there was beautiful lighthing everywhere around the city and even the Eiffel Tower was illuminated.

We went three(!) times to the famous Louvre. During the first night we actually went into the museum to admire the Mona Lisa. The other two times, we made a lot of nice and funny pictures and enjoyed the sun at the square.

If you go to France, you really really have to taste macarons. I had my first macaron in Paris and it was so lovely! For our first macaron we went to the famous Pierre Hermé (Rue Cambon), a pastry chef who is very famous for his macarons, because many of them have an ‘unusual’ flavour combination like: olive oil and vanilla, passion fruit and chocolate.Image

We enjoyed a butterschotch macaron, with salted caramel filling and it tasted like heaven!

Paris is also a fashion city and the perfect city for luxury shopping. Even the show windows are chique and high class! I really loved this one from Christian Dior at Rue Montaigne

If you’re going to Paris, don’t hesitate to visit Pont des Arts, also known as ‘the lovers bridge’. Lovers and friends visit this brigde and place padlocks to the bridge and throw the keys in the river Seine to symbolise their love.
